DCM REPORT October 17, 2020 I have been busy with the committees I am a part of. The Finance Committee decided to fund a copier, printer for Archives. We all agreed that this was a good use of funds and that the funds are available. The Ad Hoc committee on virtual meetings presented a floor motion at the Assembly to create a virtual district as a overlay of our current Districts. This was pushed to the January Quarterly. It may come up for a vote at the next Assembly. And the Remote Communities committee decided to do a survey to see what the need is in our Area. There has been some confusion about the survey, but I think we finally got it sorted out. If you have not filled it out, please do, and share it with your groups to get their feedback also. The General Service Office just had to take another $350,000 from their prudent reserve. Please stress this to your groups. Assembly was amazing. There were about 500 people attending. Elections were done in record time. The new Delegate is Geene, the Alt. Delegate is Heather, The Chair is Crystal, The Alt. Chair is Karla, the Treasurer is Lupita and the Alt. Treasurer is Eddie. I was on a panel on Friday afternoon called What Do You Do If You Can’t Get in. I talked about visiting a lot of groups in our Area as a part of the Ad Hoc Committee I am part of and how difficult it was getting into some of them because passwords were not readily available. I have been around long enough to know to call, but what about newcomers? Or visitors? It was a great discussion. Saturday was a long day of business. We started at 8:30 and ended about midnight. In spite of it being on Zoom, I could feel the enthusiasm and love of service. The people the Area contracted with the put this on did a fantastic job. |
