Dist. 46 members are continuing to carry the message into ICJ (Island Co. Jail) twice a month on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays. Women at 6pm and men at 7pm.
The women's side is well supported by outside volunteers, however the men's side could use a few more volunteers.
I have again started to attend meetings at the Twin Rivers Unit at the Monroe correctional facility.
I am currently looking for service opportunities at the Island County Juvenile detention facility.
I am hoping to kill two birds with one stone by supplying an in-house AA meeting at the juvenile facility and giving a service opportunity to our younger AA members. More will be revealed.
In Service,
Louis

I will not be attending the monthly district meeting as I be in Tacoma for the area correction quarterly.
All is going well at Island Co Jail. Our volunteer list increased with 8-9 volunteers for both the men’s and women’s groups.
Two volunteers have stepped up to be coordinators for the men’s and women’s groups.
The coordinators have both been very active in scheduling and organizing our visits and being the liaison between us and the county representatives. Basically, they ensure that all is running smoothly. A big thank you to the two of them!
Literature has been ordered and delivered to the jail by the list I can’t seem to locate. Sorry I will submit the order list next month.
Gratefully yours in service,
Louis O.

Meetings at Island Co. Jail continue to go well. With meetings on both the men's and women's side.
Inventories have been conducted to see what literature is needed.
Hopefully we can get literature ordered at the next district business meeting.
Three applications for men volunteers have been submitted with two more approved.
Considering having a coordinator for the men's side. The women have a coordinator, and it appears to very work well.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to call.

Good morning,
I have been sidelined for the last month and a half due to a medical issue. So needless to say, I am a little behind.
During my absence I am happy to report that the meetings at Island Co. Jail went just fine without me.
We have a great group of individuals who were more than capable of taking up the slack in my absence.
At last count we have 6+ women volunteers and 4-5 men volunteers.
Participation from the inside is small with 1-3 individuals inside attending.
There has been a request for literature at the jail which is on my To Do List.
Again, if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to call,

Hello,
Meetings at Island Co Jail have started and it has been reported that they are going well.
My schedule has not permitted me to attend a meeting at the jail as of yet, but I hope to attend soon.
Our schedule at the jail is as follows: 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month with women going in at 6PM and the men in at 7PM.
The 5th Wednesday is reserved by the jail for other outside classes and training.
We have good outside participation with 6 male volunteers and 6 female volunteers approved by the county.
Thank you, volunteers!!!!
I will be re-inventorying literature at the jail to see what the needs are.
I have recently attended a meeting at the Second Chance Group in the Twin Rivers Unit at the Monroe Correctional Complex.
This meeting is always well attended with 20 to 30 inside participants and 3-6 outside volunteers.
Yours in Service,
Louis, D46 Corrections Chair

I am pleased to announce that this last Wednesday we had our first in person meeting at Island Co Jail since before Covid!!!!!
The meeting was attended by three outside men volunteers.
I am still working to get participation on the women's side.
I am also happy to report that Cheryl W. has volunteered to be the coordinator for the women side. This will help greatly!
The meeting inside Island Co Jail is still "a work in progress" but there is movement in the right direction.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve,
Louis

First, we at this point are still not allowed into Island Co Jail for In-Person meetings.
I spoke to Lt. Becker at Island Co Jail this evening. Lt. Becker reported that the Security Awareness Training for volunteers would not be required by WSP. However, all volunteers will be required to resubmit a new background check form.
Next week Lt. Becker be sending out the new background check forms which I will send to volunteers to complete.
Lt. Becker also reported that new jail construction will be completed in 2-3 weeks.
Currently Lt. Becker would like us to split time with NA. So, there will be an AA or NA in-person meeting every other week.
Also, men will meet from 6 to 7pm and women will meet from 7 to 8pm.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments,

Hello,
I will not be able to attend February's meeting. My report for the month is as follows,
This month I had a visit with Lt. Bill Becker at Island Co. Jail.
Lt. Becker indicated that we will again be having "In Person" meetings at the Island county jail.
The jail remodel is nearing completion with a small meeting room becoming available in 2-3 weeks.
A second larger room will also become available in another month or so.
I am currently working on the men's & women's volunteer lists to determine who is and who is not currently approved and/or interested in continuing to volunteer. The men's list has 6-8 men available.
The women's list is uncertain and is a work in progress.
I would like very much to find a women willing to coordinate the women side at Island Co. Jail.
My other concern is the lack of participation in the Pre-Release Program (Corrections Bridge Program).

Hello, my name is Louis Olsen, and I recently accepted the position of district 46 correction chair.
Jessa A. has rotated out. Thank you, Jessa, for your service.
December 12th, I attended the Area Corrections Quarterly in Monroe.
Below are a couple of areas that need more outside support.
Corrections Bridge Program
The Corrections Bridge Program (also known as the Corrections Prerelease Program) connects the A.A. member being released from a correctional facility with A.A. members in the community they are being released to.
You should find Pre-release forms in your group’s literature racks, if not, you can contact me or your groups GSR.
Corrections Correspondence Service
If you would like to share your experience, strength and hope with A.A.s who are confined, please mail the Corrections Correspondence Form to G.S.O.’s Corrections Desk, or email the information to [email protected]. (You can also access the form on the Corrections Committee page at aa.org) The name of an inmate, selected at random from a geographic region different from your own, will be sent to you from the General Service Office and you will make the initial contact through the mail.
The correspondence service is looking primarily for men and Spanish speaking individuals as well.
LOCAL SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
Currently Island Co. Jail is still undergoing a remodel process with no date for reopening for in-person meetings. Hopefully we can at least return to ZOOM meetings shortly.
In-person meetings are ongoing at the DOC facilities in Monroe with Thursday evenings and Sunday morning meetings at the Twin Rivers unit. Volunteers needed!
Lastly, both districts 11 and 3 expressed a need for AA volunteers for Whatcom and Snohomish County jails.
If any of these opportunities interest you, please contact me instead [email protected]

Correction Report: I went to quarterly last month. Everything else is going smoothly nothing has changed. We rarely have female inmates for a meeting but we seem to always have males. I'm in good contact with the jail and the female volunteers on a weekly basis. Thanks for letting me be of service!
