Corrections Report February 2025
I will not be able to attend February's meeting. My report for the month is as follows,
This month I had a visit with Lt. Bill Becker at Island Co. Jail.
Lt. Becker indicated that we will again be having "In Person" meetings at the Island county jail.
The jail remodel is nearing completion with a small meeting room becoming available in 2-3 weeks.
A second larger room will also become available in another month or so.
I am currently working on the men's & women's volunteer lists to determine who is and who is not currently approved and/or interested in continuing to volunteer. The men's list has 6-8 men available.
The women's list is uncertain and is a work in progress.
I would like very much to find a women willing to coordinate the women side at Island Co. Jail.
My other concern is the lack of participation in the Pre-Release Program (Corrections Bridge Program).
Corrections Report January 2025
January 2025
Hello, my name is Louis Olsen, and I recently accepted the position of district 46 correction chair.
Jessa A. has rotated out. Thank you, Jessa, for your service.
December 12th, I attended the Area Corrections Quarterly in Monroe.
Below are a couple of areas that need more outside support.
Corrections Bridge Program
The Corrections Bridge Program (also known as the Corrections Prerelease Program) connects the A.A. member being released from a correctional facility with A.A. members in the community they are being released to.
You should find Pre-release forms in your group’s literature racks, if not, you can contact me or your groups GSR.
Corrections Correspondence Service
If you would like to share your experience, strength and hope with A.A.s who are confined, please mail the Corrections Correspondence Form to G.S.O.’s Corrections Desk, or email the information to [email protected]. (You can also access the form on the Corrections Committee page at aa.org) The name of an inmate, selected at random from a geographic region different from your own, will be sent to you from the General Service Office and you will make the initial contact through the mail.
The correspondence service is looking primarily for men and Spanish speaking individuals as well.
LOCAL SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
Currently Island Co. Jail is still undergoing a remodel process with no date for reopening for in-person meetings. Hopefully we can at least return to ZOOM meetings shortly.
In-person meetings are ongoing at the DOC facilities in Monroe with Thursday evenings and Sunday morning meetings at the Twin Rivers unit. Volunteers needed!
Lastly, both districts 11 and 3 expressed a need for AA volunteers for Whatcom and Snohomish County jails.
If any of these opportunities interest you, please contact me at (360)941-2638.

Corrections Report 2024
Corrections Chair, Jessa [email protected]
Correction Report: I went to quarterly last month. Everything else is going smoothly nothing has changed. We rarely have female inmates for a meeting but we seem to always have males. I'm in good contact with the jail and the female volunteers on a weekly basis. Thanks for letting me be of service!
