Young Persons Report
Jazmine <dist46yp@area72aa.org>
Hello everyone! Unfortunately, I am not able to attend this district meeting, but there is so much going on in YP world!
I attended the YP quarterly, in person, on July 22nd in Kingston (District 10).
The pamphlet "Too Young" is being retired and the video to replace it is given a rough budget of $70,000. Which sounds like a lot to me too! However, after hearing so many thoughts on this project, I do understand that the pamphlet is not exactly reaching young people. I honestly don't think I have ever read that pamphlet before I came into this position. So, that should tell you something. A video makes more sense for where our world of technology is heading. A rough cut of the video will be brought to the 2024 World Service Committee. The PI committee is being asked to oversee this project as well and make sure the video is following our traditions.
About the video: We are looking for video snipets that follow the traditions, but tell the story of a young person in AA. The YP committee has decided to start an ad hoc committee focusing on creating a video we can contribute! How exciting is that?! (anyone can submit one)
Side note: it was also mentioned that there is a call for Indigenous people stories for Native American pamphlet, which I believe has to be in by October 31st.
If you would like the information to submit something for either of these things, please reach out to me and I will send you the information.
I am also driving to San Francisco for the International Conference of Young People of AA, September 1st- 4th. I can't wait to tell you guys what I learn from that!!
Thank you so much for allowing me to serve, it really is a life beyond my wildest dreams,
Jazmine H.
