July Report
District 46 Recording Secretary
Dina M.

The upcoming business meeting will be our District Inventory. For this July meeting, minimal District business will be covered. We need to record attendance, review last month's Minutes and Treasurer Report. Ask for Birthdays, for month of July, and any important dates or information from DCM that may need to be announced before the next meeting in August.

Inventories are important at every level - personal, group, District and Area. Things to work on; things we're doing well. Checks and balances, a chance to voice ideas.

As always, if you need a copy of the June Minutes, you can get them from your GSR, or email me directly, [email protected] with your name, email and group name.
- Dina M, District 46 Secretary.

June Report
District 46 Recording Secretary

Dina M

For this month, June 2026, I received 8 out of 13 on-line reports from our active GSR/groups, which is 62%.  Why is this important?  Those on-line reports are the GSR's own words and not amended by the Secretary.  As I said last month, I do not perform transcription, but rather the essence of a verbal report (as I hear it) when taking notes.  I would rather use a GSR's own words for the reports.  Plus, the on-line reports get routed to the web, and this way, other AA members get to know the groups and feel connected with them by reading the GSR reports.  So, thank you.

For Trusted servants, 11 on-line submitted reports out of 16 filled positions (2 vacancies of the 18 positions), which is 61%.  Why is this important?  District Trusted Servants are the coordinated services outside the home groups - that can do outreach and educate the District members of what these positions are and what they do.  Services that may be beyond what the home groups can provide to reach and help reach the suffering alcoholic.  The on-line reports are routed to the web servant who posts these reports also.

If you want a copy of the Minutes of the District 46 Business Meeting, you can get them from your GSR, or email your request to me at [email protected].  In service gratitude, Dina

May Report
District Recording Secretary
Dina M.

For the month of May, 11 of our 13 GSRs made reports this month, 54% of them were on-line submissions.  For Trusted Servant (Elected/Appointed) there are 19 available positions, and 16 are filled.  I received 12 on-line submissions, or 75% of our filled positions. .  This month, we had a mishap the with recording of the meeting so I had to rely on my note-taking for the Minutes and reports.  This is another reason why the on-line submissions are so important - to make sure the information is as accurate as possible.  The Secretary position is not a science, and not a transcription of record.  It catches the essence of the meeting, and records Motions - whether PASSED or FAILED which effect District 46 business.  If you need a copy of the Minutes, you can get them from your GSR, or contact me at [email protected].

April Report
District Recording Secretary

Dina M.

Hello,
This month we had 77% of GSRs turn in on-line reports and 65% of Trusted Servant had on-line submissions.  Thank you for that.  If anyone needs a copy of the full Minutes, you can get them from your GSR, or one of our Trusted Servants if they are a member of your group.  If you need to email me, [email protected] to have them sent to you, please do so, and list your home group, with your first name.  Don’t forget - most of the GSR reports and Chair positions are accessible on the District website.  They are enjoyable to read, and the best way to learn what’s going on in our District.

Thank you,
Dina M.

March Report
Dina M.
District Recording Secretary

Hello all -Short report this month.  If you need a copy of the Monthly Business Minutes, you can get them from your GSR, or I can get them to you  - provide your Group name, and contact information, and I can get you a copy [email protected].  If you are on the direct mailing of the District 46 digital Newsletter, that is also a way to get access  to the monthly Minutes.   On-line reports are very helpful to me - this month, 69% of GSRs sent their reports in on-line, and 63% of the Trusted Servants did.  Currently, only the on-line submitted reports are shown on the website.  It sure is fun to read them.  Thank you all for your reports - in person or submitted on-line.
Thanks,
Dina

February Report
Dina M.

D46 Secretary

I attended the Area 72 Secretary Workshop/Roundtable on 2/13.  The Area 72 Secretary showed a Power Point Presentation on ideas for Secretary duties that he uses at the Area level.  Some Districts use their secretary for other duties like Registrar, most of the communications to the District Committee, preparing the District Meeting Agenda, etc.  Thank goodness District 46 has a structure in place that allows me to focus primarily on recording accurate recording of our Meetings.  Believe me, that's enough.  I also learned how tools of AI help so much in other Secretaries duties.  Sitting through 2 hrs of reports and presentations can be summarized by AI in a matter of minutes.

For the month of February, I received 9 out of 13 GSR reports on-line (69% on-line), and 10 out of 19 current filled Elected/Appointed on-line reports received (53%).  On-Line reports save the Secretary a lot of time, so thank you on-line submissions.  GSRs...you win this month in this category!

Thank you. Dina

January Report
Dina M.
D46 Secretary

Over the last couple of months, I've copied all the Minutes with attached GSR & Elected/Appointed Reports for the year 2025.  I will hand over these documents to District 46 Archives for safe keeping, and reference.

Another duty I had to complete for 2025 (before handing over the Minutes) was to  "pull"  the District Motions for the year to update the D46 Handbook.  It's important to keep these business motions updated and available to review.  I'd like to note that "housekeeping" motions, like approving the monthly Minutes and monthly Treasurer Reports, are not included in the "Business Motions" that affect the District business functions and District financial decisions.

For the month of January, 62% of the active GSRs turned in on-Line reports (8 of 13) Thank you!!  It makes my job SO MUCH EASIER.  The Elected/Appointed Trusted Servants 68% turned in on-Line reports (13 of 19 positions).

Last, we have some SPECIAL REPORTS from DCM and Alt DCM due to  the Area 72 January Business Quarterly.  These reports are included in the Elected/Appointed Reports for January but are also posted on the District 46 website on the "Resources" page.  My opinion is that all these reports are worth the read!

Thank you for letting me be of service.

District Secretary is an awesome job.

December Report
Dina M.
D46 Secretary

I attended the Area 72 Secretaries Workshop this month. I learned how lucky I am to have service in District 46. Because we have an active Registrar, an involved DCM, and supporting Alt DCM, I don't have to track mailing lists, distribution lists, maintain GSR and mail contacts, send out GSO and Area communications, etc. My job is to focus on the Minutes and accurate reports as a history record of doing business in District 46. With teamwork, the heavy lifting is shared, and it makes Service more enjoyable.

For the November reports, current/active/registered GSRs participated with their reports by 12 out of 13, or 92%. Of those, 11 of the 13 were made on-line.
For Elected/Appointed positions, of our 18 filled positions I have 16 reports, 89% - 14 of them were made on-line. We have a vacancy Chair position, "Accessibilities Chair". All in all, I'd say 2025 District 46 "Committee" is doing FANTASTIC. Thank you for doing your job....it makes mine so much easier! -

November Report
Dina M.
D46 Secretary

Hello, District 46 - Happy Gratitude month!  The month of November means this rotation is almost half over, and believe it or not, I still like being the Secretary.
I prepare a summary report as the District Secretary because our District business meeting Minutes are not posted on a public forum - like a website.  Your GSR can provide you the Minutes (and attached Reports) at your group's business meetings, or you can email me at [email protected], with questions.
The GSR and Trusted Servant reports that are on the website are the reports that are submitted on-line.  The in-person reports are summarized by me, and included in the Minutes, but not used as the website entry.   Here's a link to the on-line GSR reports: GSR Reports - DISTRICT 46 ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS, and the on-line Trusted Servant reports: District 46 Trusted Servants - Volunteers - DISTRICT 46 ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS (use the scroll feature to see all the Trusted Servant positions!)   These reports give an insight to what these positions are, and keeps us connected to the groups in the District (via the GSRs), and informed (via the Trusted Servants).
This month (for the October business meeting) had 84.5% on-line submission rate from the GSRs, and 61% on-line submission rate from the Trusted Servants.  (GSRs.... WOW!).  We are lucky to have such committed members in this rotation.  It's a blast!

October Report
Dina M.
D46 Secretary

The month of October was busy.  I attended the Area 72 Assembly in Lynnwood, not as a voting member, and NOT expensed through District 46 for this position.  I paid for it myself.  Why?  Because I love it!  As DCM, Alt DCM, GSRs, and other members that attended this year's Assembly all said it was a good assembly, I also felt connected and informed.  I hope to attend next as well.  It put my September Minutes a bit late, getting them to DCM for disbursement to the District Committee - Sorry Dave.
Anyway, my stats for the September Minutes are 50% of the GSRs made their reports on-line, and the Trusted Servants and Chairs had a 74% on-line submission rate.   I spent just under 11 hrs this month for this position.  You have to remember, I am NOT the fastest at technology, nor typing, nor condensing information.  HOWEVER, I do like this position - even though I'm a bit slow.  I'm glad to be doing it.  Thank you for letting me be of service.

This month went by really fast!  The "stats" for the month of August are as follows:  80% of our GSRs turned in their reports on-line, and the Elected/Appointed positions turned in at 73%.  So, once again, you GSRs, and Trusted Servants are impressive!  Why does this matter to me?  It means I spent 2 hours less doing the Minutes for August than I did in July, so Thank You!  This position usually fits into my chaotic life, quite well.  I can work on it in spirts, weekends, on the ferry rides,....minutes at a time, or an hour chunk here and there.  I feel informed and connected to everyone!  I get to read everyone's report, whether on-line or in-person.  This service position is enjoyable for me.  Our web servant, Lori, works efficiently on posting these reports on the website, so all of our members have the chance to stay connected also.  Thank you for allowing me to be of service.  Keep those on-line reports coming!  See you in Anacortes - 3rd Saturday in September.

Thank you,

August Report
Dina M.
D46 Secretary

Hello my friends -
I can tell July was a busy month.  I received 9 on-line GSR reports out of 15 Groups, which is 60%.  For the other Trusted Servants, I received 14 out of 20 positions (there is one vacancy, so 19 active positions), which is 74% on-line reports received.  My time record was just under 14 hours for the July Minutes.

I love the flexibility of this position.  I can do the job in spurts, late at night, early in the morning....5 minutes here....12 minutes there...which sometimes has to be done - with balancing full-time job, part-time job, family and animals, let alone my own recovery meetings, workshops, and preparing for workshops!  Don't forget the 7th Tradition Workshop in Oak Harbor 8/23!!!

We do this for fun and for free!  Thank you for letting me be of service.  On-line reports help save time for this service job, and it gets your report onto the District website!

I love this position!  The GSR reports that are submitted on-line are the ones that appear on the website every month.  As you can see, our GSRs are "on it"!  The GSRs that make their report in-person at the monthly District business meeting are also recorded into the Minutes-Attached Reports, so they are documented, but in case you are wondering why your group's GSR report is not on the website, that it why.  It is the same with the Trusted Servants.  If they were able to provide an on-line report, it is posted to the website - otherwise their in-person report is still recorded and included in the Minutes-attached documents.  I received 11 out of 15 GSR reports on-line (73%), and 12 out of 20 Trusted servant reports (60%).  The reason I say this is because it substantially saves me time doing the Minutes.   It is SO MUCH FASTER for the Secretary to have on-line reports submitted.  Although I do review the recorded business meetings, the GSR and Trusted Servant on-line submissions are VERY efficient.  For the June Minutes, I spent between 10-11 hrs doing the Minutes over the last 3 weeks - which is a record for me!!   With full-time work, plus another part-time job, spouse, family, and pets, .....service work can difficult to keep up with.  Thank you, District 46 Committee (GSRs, Elected/Appointed Trusted servants) for helping me make it possible.  PS - Did I mention it's FUN?!

Thank You
Dina M. Secretary D46

For the District Meeting Minutes for the Month of May 2025, I spent approximately 12.5 hrs.  For GSR reports, I received 12 out of 15 (i.e. 80%), and the Elected/Appointed positions (DCM/AltDCM, committee chairs, etc), I received 16 out of 20 (also 80%), which includes a couple of vacancies.  What does this mean?
It means, THANK YOU!!  GSRs you are doing a great job in keeping the District informed, participating in the communication flow, and making my job much more efficient.  Elected and Appointed Trusted Servants....same goes to you, THANK YOU.  This job has been really fun, reading the reports as they come in and trying different formatting ideas to cut down on the time commitment this job takes.  Every month gets better.  Keep up the good work, everyone!   I'm really proud (and lucky) to be a Trusted Servant in District 46.

Hello,
I was attempting to keep track of time that I spent on the Minutes from April's business meeting. I lost track of that time-keeping attempt, so will try again this month. On-line reports continue to help me GREATLY. There will be a new form introduced this month for the trusted servants to use if they have not (or cannot) do their on-line report submissions. It will be available at the next meeting. This will help me do a more accurate record of the report of the Trusted Servant(s). I am starting to believe this position CAN BE DONE by a person with a full-time job, an additional part-time job, and several service positions....Thank you all for helping make this possible!

Thank you,

D46 Secretary

Hello,

Each month of this position, I feel I am gaining momentum, sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly.  This month I will start to keep track of the time I spend on the Minutes to see how much time it really takes to do this position (for me).  Each month gets a bit more efficient, and the on-line reports that the GSRs and Trusted Servants do are amazingly helpful.   Thanks again for your efforts with on-line reports.  Remember, only the on-line reports get on the website.  A big "Shout-out" to Lori (and mentor DCM Dave J) - for the incredible work on posting the reports on the website and all the other current information available to us digitally.

I am still in the "work in progress" stage for experimenting with the changes for the District's Business Meeting Minutes. DCM, Dave J, and I are working together to streamline the Business Minutes for direct & quicker review of them. The GSR Reports are on a separate/attached document, as are the Elected & Appointed (i.e. Trusted Servants) reports. Remember - if you want your reports to show up on the website, you must submit them on-line. Email to me, if that's easier for you at [email protected].

Otherwise, via the District46 website, GSR page for GSR reports has the on-line form, and Trusted Servants tab has the Elected/Appointed Reports on-line form.

Thank-you.

January District 46 Meeting Minutes was my first duty as Recording Secretary in the new rotation.  Although they were 14 pages long, (!!!)....I had a good time doing them.   I can't say enough about how enjoyable this position will be for me.  It really helps me to review the meeting recording and re-hear the meeting, your reports and comments, and reading your on-line reports, while preparing the next month's meeting Minutes.  My goal is to make more concise comments, and shorten the page count a bit.  It helps a lot when the reports are sent on-line.

Thank you for your participation.
